Clients often tell me they know when I really like something when I say "LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!" It's true... I love all things design. My work is my passion, my pastime and my livelihood.
Ten years ago, I left a career in nursing to pursue a long-time dream of becoming an entrepreneur. The health care industry taught me how to transform people's homes into sanctuaries. Listening to stories of patients who were violently ill or terminally ill, helped me make sense of priorities - feeling well, creating a peaceful environment, setting a mood, and establishing a sense of calm. These core values led to decor by Jennifer and have been the secret to my success.
Over the years I have assembled a fabulous team of designers, coordinators, tradesmen and suppliers who believe in the same core values. Together, we build relationships, which enable us to have an innate understanding of our client's wants and needs.
People communicate very differently, and often speak without saying a word. That's when intuitiveness is key. The best compliment I receive is when friends of my clients comment on how the room we've created is "so them!"
I'm frequently asked about personal style. If I had to sum it up in just one word, it would definitely be eclectic. However, when designing someone else's home, my tastes are irrelevant. I'm there to interpret ideas and create a space that's a reflection of them.
During the first meeting with a client, I envision a room almost instantly. I can best describe it as a jigsaw puzzle in my mind - I see a space, listen to the client and immediately begin assembling the various pieces in my head.
I love, love, love all things fabric. I can look, feel, peruse and research textiles 24 hours- a-day. I pay close attention to patterns, texture, colours and usage for inspiration.
My signature is giving existing pieces a new lease on life. Whether I mix them in an unconventional way, or use them in collaboration with new items, the end result is always spectacular.
I have developed a reputation for being highly motivated, energetic and focused. My commitment to client service is unsurpassed, as evidenced in our long-term client relationships. Designing someone's space is quite personal. Over time, we get to know each other extremely well. I love people. I love the creative efforts of filling a room and watching them bring it to life! I realized very earlier on it's not the items that make a home, it's the people.
As a wife and mother of three kids under five, I live a busy, hectic lifestyle. I recognize the importance of function, flair and perhaps most importantly, the element of calm and tranquility. My home needs to function well and offer peace-of-mind to help me relax with beauty and calm at the end of a crazy day.
I am extremely grateful to have found a passion that some may call a job... love it, love it, love it!
